The Black Country Business Property Investment Programme (BCBPIP) offers gap funding for eligible applicants to improve premises to ‘excellent/good’ BREEAM standards and bring forward the development of employment sites. It is proposed that the project will offer 25-35% of funding intervention for small and medium sized businesses looking to construct new/improve existing business floorspace. Businesses located in the following Dudley Borough wards may be eligible: Castle and Priory’; St. James’s; St. Thomas’s; Netherton, Woodside and St. Andrew’s; Brierley Hill. Business Premises Renovation Allowance
Business Premises Renovation Allowance (BPRA) provides 100% tax relief on capital expenditure incurred in bringing back into commercial use disused commercial buildings within designated assisted areas. For Dudley, these are the electoral wards of Amblecote, Bellevale & Hasbury, Brierley Hill, Brockmoor & Pensnett, Castle & Priory, Coseley East, Coseley West, Gornal, Halesowen North, Halesowen South, Kingswinford North & Wall Heath, Lye & Wollescote, Netherton & Woodside, Quarry Bank & Cradley, St Andrews, St James’s and St Thomas’s.
There are a number of conditions, including:
- The property must have been empty or disused for at least twelve months;
- The property must have been last in use for the purposes of a business and, specifically not in use as a dwelling or part of a dwelling;
- The expenditure must be capital expenditure on conversion or renovation together with any incidental repairs.
- The business claiming relief must not be in financial difficulty (as defined in EU State Aid Guidelines).
